This is a different type of poncho, the sides are laced with a crocheted cord so the sizing can be adjusted. I would consider the sizing a medium or large. It is not a long garment and is meant to be oversized. It is done with a bulky yarn so is fairly heavyweight. It has a neck that can me turned over or worn as a cowl style.
It may be hand washed in cool water with a mild detergent then laid flat to shape.
